Oyster was founded to turn middle school math from a source of fear into a journey of discovery.
Why Oyster?
Most kids don't struggle with math; they just get caught unprepared. The lesson starts, they see the board for the first time, the parts they don't understand pile up, and over time the belief "I'm not a math person" sets in. We wanted to break this cycle.
That's where our name comes from: an oyster reveals the pearl within, given patience and the right conditions. We believe every child holds a pearl inside too — Oyster builds the right environment to bring that pearl to light.
We drew inspiration from the flipped learning method: if a child explores the topic before school, at their own pace and with fun, they come to class prepared. We added gamification and the personalization power of AI. The result is a math app kids open on their own.
